Welcome home, Layla!

Layla came home this past Sunday, after 56 days in the NICU.  We’re sleepless but incredibly happy to have her home.

Thank you so much to everyone who sent good wishes, prayers and support our way – it meant the world to us.

(Another cutie pie picture of Layla is after the jump.)

So happy for your family, Jessica. As a preemie baby myself, I feel fully qualified to say you should be proud of your tough little one :) I have no doubt that you and Andrew will teach her to keep on fighting the good fight. Love and luck to all of you!

Congratulations! I’m sure you’ve heard lots of stories like this already, but my niece was born at 27 weeks, weighing 1 lb. 15 oz. She’s now a tall-for-her-age nine-year-old in the gifted program at her school. So no worries. Layla is obviously already perfect.

I wish you, your daughter, and Andrew all the very best. I wanted to add how much of an impact you had on the lives of many women here at Laurier in Waterloo Ontario when you came — newly pregnant. It was for many a defining moment. I teach in Women and Gender studies and while I came to hear you talk we did not meet – this was not my event but these wonderful students. But what I have collected are a litany of experiences that connected the thoughtful writings with the thoughtful person who wrote them. thank you and again warm regards to all.
